“That was unfortunate. That was essentially an interaction with our fans seated near me,” Jones explained during a radio appearance. “Present was a swarm of Cowboys fans—not Jets fans, our fans. The whole venue was filled with enthusiasm for the Cowboys.”
Jones additionally clarified that the signal was entirely accidental, occurring amid the excitement following the team’s last score. “I simply showed the wrong digit,” he noted. “It was inadvertently performed. This is sincere. If you want to call it unplanned, you can. But it got corrected pretty quick.”
